Meet Dr. Petrina Yokay

D.P.M., A.A.C.F.A.S.

Dr. Yokay is a fantastic podiatrist at two locations in Orange county. She completed her residency training at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and North Shore University Hospital with extensive training in trauma and arthroscopic surgery, as well as forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction surgery. Dr. Yokay was given the honor of being the Chief Resident the final year of her residency training.

Background

Dr. Yokay grew up in Sacramento, California and completed her undergraduate training at Auburn University in Alabama, where she received a full athletic scholarship for gymnastics and competed for four years. She received multiple awards for athletics and academics during her time at Auburn. Dr. Yokay graduated with a degree in chemistry and developed an interest in foot and ankle medicine from the many injuries she sustained throughout her gymnastics career.

Being a top podiatrist in Newport Beach, Dr. Yokay completed her medical education at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where she graduated cum laude and was the recipient of multiple academic awards including being inducted into the National Chapter of Pi Delta. Following this, she was accepted into the prestigious Long Island Jewish/North Shore University Hospital Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Program, where she completed her residency training.

I’ve done gymnastics since I was two, and over the years I’ve had countless foot and ankle injuries. Dealing with these lower extremity injuries and my interest in biomechanics and anatomy inspired me to pursue podiatry.

A Doctor Who Relates to Her Patients

Because of her background as an athlete, Dr. Yokay closely relates to the diverse and complex lower extremity conditions of each patient she sees. She is a compassionate doctor who carefully listens to each patient’s personal expectations in order to develop an individualized treatment plan. Dr. Yokay draws upon her diverse and comprehensive training — whether she’s treating a biomechanical condition, providing podiatric clinical care, or performing surgery.

Personal Life

In her free time, Dr. Yokay likes to cook, exercise, and attend sporting events with her husband.
